Getting started in 30 minutes

This is the fastest path from a fresh organization to entering real farm figures on a phone. Work top to bottom; each step builds on the one before it.

A new organization opens on a Get started checklist at /onboarding. It tracks your progress from your real data - add a site, add houses, place a lot, record your first figures, invite your team - and always points at the next step. While setup is unfinished, your dashboard also shows a Continue setup prompt, so you can pick up where you left off from any device. The steps below are the same path, spelled out.

The setup path

  1. Confirm your organization. Sign in and check the org profile at /settings. Your subdomain is fixed once created, so confirm it is right.
  2. Build your locations. Add sites at /locations/sites, then open each site and add its poultry houses - use Add houses on the site to create several at once. Every flock or egg set belongs to a house, so locations come first.
  3. Invite the team. Add people at /settings/members and give each person the narrowest role that lets them do their job. You can widen a role later.
  4. Add your first flock or egg set. Go to /lots/new and choose Place a Lot. PoultryDesk uses Lot as the common name for a broiler flock, layer flock, or hatchery egg set.
  5. Enter a day of figures. From a phone, record mortality, feed, and (for layers) eggs. Placing a lot from the Get started checklist takes you straight to this capture screen. The entry saves even without a signal; a queued badge shows until it syncs.
  6. Record the money. When you are ready, record a sale and an expense under /finance.

Watch out

Daily entry works with no signal - a submission is saved on the device and syncs automatically when you are back online. You do not need to wait for a connection to record farm figures.
